Trip to the Archibald Prize in Sydney
IMPORTANT UPDATE WEDNESDAY 30 DECEMBER
TRIP CANCELLED - SEE BELOW
It is with deep regret that it has been necessary to cancel the trip to Sydney on Wednesday 6 January to see the Archibald Prize and Streeton Exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW.
This decision has been made based on a number of considerations.
Firstly, COVID-19 clusters are appearing daily at new sites throughout Greater Sydney and beyond. In the week from today to the planned trip, these clusters can only increase. This would present the following consequences
Unacceptable risk to participants of catching COVID-19 in a venue that attracts a large number of visitors
The risk of any visitor to Greater Sydney being forced into 14 days quarantine upon return to Dungog.
Already a number of participants have withdrawn, making the cost of hiring a bus untenable.
Those participants who have paid for the bus will be eligible for a full refund which will be arranged when our treasurer returns from a short break away.
Tickets for the exhibition are not refundable, however the ticket for the Streeton Exhibition is not dated and available for use until the 14th February.
Should participants wish to make their own way by private transport, they are of course free to do so but would have to organize that between themselves.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused, but the health of members and guests are our prime concern.

GALLERY LIGHTS UPGRADE
We have been fortunate to receive a grant from Arts Upper Hunter of $1000 to upgrade the lights in our gallery to LED which are cheaper to run and more environmentally friendly.
The total cost of the upgrade is $1415, so generous members have embraced the "Sponsor a Light" scheme where they contributed to the shortfall, by "adopting" one of the 18 lights in the gallery for $20
Here is a list of the contributors so far
Pat & John Staker
Royce Burns & Dianne Pope
Greg & Phyl Danvers
Phillippa & John Graham
